Kripashankar patel [VISHNOI] not only in India but all over the world is counted among those wrestlers who have hosted the flags of success in the whole world.
Kripashankar patel was born on 5th aug 1977 , in a farmers family living in the small village located in khandwa jila and harsud tehsil of Madhya pradesh . From this small village only his journey to success started and then he became famous not only in India but in the whole world for his performances. He has participated in 50 international wrestling competitions and by giving his excellent performance in the field of wrestling won 11 gold , 8 silver and 5 bronze medals , which is of course a great achievement . only some people can perform these special tasks .
At national level also Mr patel made a national record by grabbing 25 gold , 11silver and 7 bronze medals in his pocket .
Mr patel represented India in asian cadet wrestling competetion held from 3 to 5 dec 1989 and by beating the Iranian wrestler K.D.Mohammad with a great score of 8/1 established his first step in international wrestling cenario and than always remained glittering in the whole world representing India .
In common wealth games he gained special achievement . Mr patel won a bronze medal in 15th common wealth games held from 18 to 28 aug1994 (Vancouver , Canada) . In common wealth championship from 5 to 6 july 2003 won silver medal , 16 to 17 june 2007 (London , Canada) in free style won a gold and in this competetion itself won silver in Grecoroman style .
Mr patel won 2 golds in commonwealth wrestling championship organized from 30 june to 2 july 2005 (capetown , south Africa) under 55 weight category in grecoroman and free style . He is the only wrestler who made a world record of winning 2 golds in 1 competetion but in different categories (free style and grecoroman style) . Like this he won a total of 3 gold , 2 silver and 1 bronze medals in commonwealth wrestling championship and grabbed largest number of medals in commonwealth for his pockets .
Mr patel in 7th ,8th & 9th south asian federation games held from 18 to 27 dec 1995 (madras , India) , 24 sept to 4 oct 1999(kathmandu , Nepal) , 29 mar to 7 april 2004 (Islamabad , Pakistan) and by winning 3 golds made a super hattrick .
Mr patel represented India 4 times in Olympic qualifying tournament that is from 11 to 13 feb 2000 (Leipzig , germany) by getting 5th position , 25 to 27 feb 2000 (Tokyo , japan) by getting 10th position , 28 to 30 feb 2000 (minsk , Belarus) and from 2 to 4 may 2008 (warsa , Belarus)
. In Canada world cup Mr patel competed with all wrestlers and proved to be a perfectionist in his sports by winning a gold in Canada world cup (11 to 12 july 2003 , Canada) . By winning a gold again in Canada world cup under grecoroman style (23 to24 june 2007 , guelph Canada) increased his country’s name and fame and here itself he got 4th place under free style category . In international century cup organized from 8 to 9 july 2005 (capetown , south Africa) he won a gold (in free style) and here itself he got a silver for grecoroman style . Other than this many a times in international invited tournaments by winning medals made India reknowed in the whole world .
Mr patel by representing india 8 times in senior , junior ,cadet world wrestling championship got 1 silver and 1 bronze .
In asian wrestling competitions also he received an overwhelming response from 6 to 20 dec (Bangkok , Thailand) in 13th asian games , from 29 sept to 14 oct 2002 (bhusan , south kprea) , in 14th asian games represented India . in 14th asian wrestling championship from 26 to 28 april 2000 (guilin , china) got 4th position , in 15th asian wrestling championship from 5to 10 june 2001 (ulaanbaatar , magnolia) got 4th position and in 16th asian championship from 5 to 8 june 2003 (newdelhi , India) grabbed a bronze medal .
Looking at the various sports achievements of Mr kripashankar patel the youth affairs and sports authority of India granted him with the best sportsperson award i.e.
“arjun award” from our respected president in the year 2000 and in year 1994 he was awarded by madhyapradesh government with the “vikram award” .
Along with playing sports he attended the diploma course in sports coaching at sports authority of India netaji subhas national institute of sports with ‘A’ grade .
Presently Mr patel is training the youth wrestlers of malarashram school in indore to prepare for mission 2012 olympic games.
